HUI Award Winners! | During the past few years, HUInc folk have won a number of prestigous awards for their research and contributions in the field of health-related quality of life. David Feeny, winner of the 2010 President's Award from the International Society for Quality of Life Research (ISOQOL) in London, UK. John Horsman, winner of Best Podium Presentation at the 2010 International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) 15th Annual International Congress in Atlanta, USA. George Torrance, our multiple award winner. In 2001 George was awarded the Career Achievement Award (recognizing senior investigators who have made significant contributions to the field of medical decision making) from the Society for Medical Decision Making (SMDM). This was followed in 2002 when he received the ISOQOL President's Award in Orlando, USA. In 2006 George was doubly honoured. He was the recipient of the Avedis Donebedian Outcomes Research Lifetime Achievement Award at the ISPOR 11th Annual International Congress in Philadelphia, USA and was inducted into the "Community of Distinction" by McMaster University, Faculty of Health Sciences. Over the years HUInc personnel have won many ISPOR poster award finalist ribbons for outstanding contributions to the extensive library of ISPOR poster and abstract presentations at International and European Congresses including Danielle Talsma, John Horsman, and Bill Furlong. HUI Presenters | Researchers from around the world have presented their studies using the HUI at many international conferences over the past 2 decades. Recent presenters include Drs Yulia Gorinova and Irina Vinyarskaya of the Russian Acdemy of Medical Sciences and XXX of Japan. All were at the recent International Society of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) 2012 European Congress in Berlin Germany. |

Questionnaires | Which HUI questionnaire format is right for your needs? The HUI health status classification system can be interviewer or self-administered, proxy or self-assessed, with a range of 'standard' recall periods to suit most surveys. This page provides 'at-a-glance' details of the different versions available including a schematic flow diagram of the HUI System components. |

George Torrance - recipient of the 2006 "Avedis Donabedian Outcomes Research Lifetime Achievement Award" awarded at the ISPOR 11th Annual International Meeting in Philadelphia, May 2006. George is co-developer of the HUI. The award is named in honor of Avedis Donabedian, one of the pioneers in the measurement of patient outcomes and quality of care. The ISPOR Award is international in scope and stature, recognizing an individual’s outstanding, life-long achievement in the area of improving health outcomes and is open to any person who, through his or her life’s endeavors, has demonstrated a significant and lasting contribution towards better health outcomes. | |

ISOQOL President's Award: David Feeny, recipient in 2010 and George Torrance, recipient in 2002. The goal of this award is to recognize outstanding contributions (by an individual or group) to the advancement of the quality of life field in one or more of the following areas: "education of professionals, patients or lay individuals about the value of quality of life assessment as related to health"; "promotion or execution of quality of life research or other scholarly activities"; and "facilitating or furthering policy initiatives that impact upon health-related quality of life."
